Thanksgiving is a tapestry woven with history and heartfelt appreciation. Back in 1620, the Pilgrims forged a connection with the Wampanoag tribe, sharing farming and trade wisdom, and emphasizing the reciprocal relationship with nature and gratitude.

It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. In 2023, a traditional part of the holiday is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. A visual spectacle of balloons, floats, performances, and more. Whether you watch on NBC or stake out a spot along the 2.5-mile route, you're in for a treat.

And as winter settles in, we invite you to transform your living space into a snug retreat. Begin with warm throws, draping sofas and beds for inviting nooks on chilly nights. Illuminate with soft, ambient lighting.

Indulge in comforting winter drinks. Stock up on hot cocoa, herbal teas, or spiced cider. Keep mugs and cozy blankets handy, inviting you to snuggle up with a warm beverage.

Lastly, infuse your space with seasonal decor. Adorn with festive wreaths, plush cushions, and wintery accents. Add deep, rich colors for a warm, inviting atmosphere – ideal for curling up with a good book, watching a marvelous movie, or welcoming in guests.

With these touches, your space will transform into a winter wonderland. Get ready to embrace the cozy, inviting atmosphere at Chesapeake Ridge in North East, MD.

It is unfortunately not the most wonderful time of year because it is officially back-to-school season. Chesapeake Ridge wants everyone to be prepared for another great school year and squeeze out any summer fun left! While it may be hard to believe, the summer season lasts until Saturday, September 23rd.

First and foremost, let’s get outside and enjoy the summer weather, in any way you can! Anything from walking around our beautiful Chesapeake Ridge property and taking advantage of our resort-style pool, fitness facility, and lounge area. Take your workouts outdoors or just relax while soaking up some vitamin D.

After getting in your sunshine time, enjoy relaxing and the final lazy days of summer. Who says you can’t binge-watch your favorite tv show or movie trilogy? It’s the perfect time to rewatch The Hunger Games movies or catch up on those tv shows you’ve been meaning to watch. Whether you’re a reality tv fan and still haven’t watched The Traitors or finally catching up on the drama series Yellowjackets.

Also, take advantage of this remaining free time by planning to return to school. Get out the old backpacks, notebooks, and school supplies. Try reusing last year’s school supplies as much as possible. Even notebooks that aren’t filled up can be reused. These last few days of summer should be about getting in all those last-minute memories and doing what you can to prepare for getting back to school.

Happy August Chesapeake Ridge! It is sadly the last full month of the summer season, but don’t fret! There is still so much fun to be had and memories to create. We are hoping that our community members are able to create new summer memories, and reflect on some old ones. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Some of my favorite summer memories come from when I was little and would visit with my Aunt and Uncle. My family and I lived in Pennsylvania while my Aunt, Uncle, and their kids lived in New Jersey. So, every summer we would visit them for a long weekend. They lived near a lake so we would go swimming, bounce on a trampoline on the water, and attempt to dive off the high-dive. When I tried to perform a dive off the highest board, and couldn’t, my cousin told me it was just because I didn’t believe enough. That’s still something we joke about to this day.

There are also some summer memories I have made as recent as this year! This summer, I worked on some passion projects, practicing my graphic design skills and continued working on my short film script. I spent time relaxing by reading books like They Both Die At The End and Red, White & Royal Blue, listening to new music like Feed the Beast by Kim Petras and Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo, and going to the movies to see No Hard Feelings, The Little Mermaid, and Barbie.

Chesapeake Ridge hopes by sharing some summer memories that our community members are inspired to look back on their fondest summer memories and are encouraged to continue to create more this August.

Summer is officially here Chesapeake Ridge residents! Now that warm weather and longer days are here to stay, everyone is searching for activities to keep busy and entertained. With July as the second month of the summer season, there needs to be some extra creativity and excitement in your plans and ideas!

Now that the sun is constantly shining, everyone has a little extra pep in their step. We all want some extra special things to do this season. Throw on a cute outfit, get out in the sun, and have some fun in North East, MD.

A few lively outdoor activities include having a picnic, going to a parade, making tye-dye clothes, watching a game, or taking a hike. While spending time outside this season, bring out your inner kid and have a ball! Run through sprinklers, go down a slip ‘n’ slide, ride ferris wheels and roller coasters, or have a water balloon fight.

Maybe you prefer some relaxation. Of course, going to the beach and sunbathing, reading, or listening to music is always a good idea. If you can’t get to a beach then star-gazing, spa days, wine tasting, or even going tech-free for the day can all be incredibly relaxing!

June 16th is Take a Road Trip Day- The road awaits you, the weather is warm, hop in the car, and get away.

June 18th is National Picnic Day- With the perfect weather it is the ideal time to go outside, lay a blanket down, and enjoy a meal in the sunshine.

June 27th is National Sun Glasses Day- A reminder to protect your eyes during the sunny season, so grab your favorites or get yourself a brand-new pair.

This year, Memorial Day is honored on May 29, 2023. Chesapeake Ridge is proud to celebrate Memorial Day as a federal United States holiday that honors America’s military members who have lost their lives in service to our country. Always observed on the last Monday of the month of May.

For a lot of Americans, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. Many people attend parades, go to the beach, or have barbeques with family and friends- which can be hosted right here at Chesapeake Ridge. But at its core, Memorial Day is a yearly remembrance for those who have sacrificed their lives in the military service.

Each year, throughout a television broadcast, a Memorial Day Parade is broadcasted as a tribute to our Nation’s fallen heroes. Presented by Boeing returns live to Constitution Avenue this Memorial Day, May 29, at 2:00 PM. Whether you come to watch live, in-person, or on television from around the country, or the world, the story of American sacrifice is shared from Washington DC to North East, MD to beyond.

Then, stay tuned for the very special Independence Day television companion- Our Sacred Honor: An American Salute. Airing on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and CW stations nationwide, the National Memorial Day Parade and Our Sacred Honor commemorate the shared values of service and sacrifice that have brought this nation together throughout history.
